Family Friendly Restaurants in the Seacoast

Great food and a welcoming atmosphere make these local, family-friendly restaurants perfect for keeping the whole family full and happy.

Flatbread Company

Located in the heart of downtown, Flatbread Company is a fantastic spot for a family outing. With six locations across the United States, it’s known for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent service, and outstanding pizzas. Kids are given paper and crayons to create their own artwork, which can be handed to the hostess at the end of the visit to be used as menu covers—a fun and memorable touch. There’s also a stool where kids can sit front and center to watch the cooking process, from dough being hand-tossed to pizzas sliding in and out of the giant brick oven. This interactive experience makes the visit especially exciting for little ones. While the menu is simple, offering mainly pizza and salad, the unique pizza combinations are full of flavor and absolutely delicious—just something to keep in mind when planning your visit.

Tour

Just a short drive from the condo, Tour is a newer restaurant and bar that offers a fun and unique experience for the whole family. It’s best known for its virtual golf simulators, but during the warmer months, they also set up a mini golf course right outside for younger kids to enjoy. The food is consistently excellent, with a flavorful selection of appetizers and dishes—I truly haven’t had a bad meal here yet. For families with older kids, booking one of the simulation bays is highly recommended. Each simulator can accommodate up to five people, making it a great group activity where everyone can practice their swing while enjoying drinks and appetizers. The space itself is very large and comfortable, and in the summer months, the outdoor seating adds to the overall experience.

Friendly Toast

Known for its unique décor, lively atmosphere, and eclectic menu, The Friendly Toast—located right in downtown—is a must-visit spot for a family brunch. The busy, upbeat vibe helps keep kids entertained while you wait for your food. The menu features a mix of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options, with breakfast served all day and a wide variety of gluten-free choices. Their French toast is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth, and the rotating specials are always creative and worth checking out. For parents, there’s a full bar offering mimosa and Bloody Mary flights, signature cocktails, and more. Keep in mind that this popular spot can get very busy on weekends, with longer wait times, but you can reserve your spot and explore downtown while your table is being prepared.

When Pigs Fly Restaurant and Pizzeria

Just a short drive into Kittery, Maine on Route 1, When Pigs Fly is a great family-friendly restaurant with plenty of outdoor space. During the summer months, they offer an outdoor bar, lawn games, and ample seating, giving kids room to run around and burn off some energy. The food is consistently delicious, paired with fast and friendly service. In the colder months, head inside to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the open kitchen and watch hand-tossed pizzas being made. The menu features a wide selection of favorites, along with classic kids’ menu options, making it easy for everyone to find something they’ll enjoy. On your way back to the condo, don’t forget to stop by the Kittery Outlets or Kittery Trading Post for a little shopping.

The Shanty

Just a short drive from Tide House, this spot offers great food, a fun and welcoming atmosphere, and is an ideal place to dine with your kiddos. The menu has a wide variety of options, making it easy for everyone in the family to find something they’ll enjoy. There are plenty of roomy booths that comfortably fit larger groups, along with lots of TVs showing sports and other channels to keep everyone entertained. If you have picky eaters, you’ll be happy to know they offer classic dishes that kids are sure to love. The service is consistently great—friendly, attentive, and fast. It’s a perfect choice if you want to step just outside of downtown, avoid the parking hassle, and skip the long waits while still enjoying a great meal.
